It is hard to keep up with the new presidency of DJT. Many executive orders have been signed and many Biden executive orders have been reversed. No doubt, these decisions were honed weeks, perhaps months, prior to January 20th, 2025. We have waited decades for the release of all records concerning the assassination of our 35th president. An executive order has been signed demanding the information be released. Accompanied by orders to release all records concerning the assassinations of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.
No time was wasted in implementing Trump’s directive to remove illegals from the country. Less than two weeks have passed and over 4000 illegals have been deported. As the worst of the illegals are being rounded up, many are opting for self-deportation, causing a traffic jam on our Mexican border. Newly appointed border czar, Tom Homan, reports today that border crossings into the US are down by 93%.
Serious orders, such as an end to federal DEI hiring are accompanied by others that seem almost petty ie.. renaming the gulf of Mexico.
Tariffs have been placed on goods from China, Mexico and Canada purportedly to demand better border security, and to stop the influx of fetynal. Saagar Enjeti points out that an immediate imposition of a tariff can only be done if there is an outside threat, He posits that Trump’s fundamental purpose is attacking the trade imbalance and encouraging more manufacturing in the US.
Other Tariffs that seem to be on the horizon are EU tariffs and a tariff on chips from Taiwan. The later would hopefully bring the manufacturing of these vital goods to the US, thus preventing our involvement in any China Taiwan border kerfuffle.
One order that I found particularly encouraging demanded that service men and women, forced out due to their un vaccinated status, would be re-instated with full backpay.
Some orders face legal challenges such as the order to end the birth right citizenship of children born to parents in the country illegally.
Some are so obviously common sense it is hard to believe that we must order them. That there are two genders and that the government will not support mutilating healthy children.
Musk’s DOGE has been tasked with cutting trillions from our bloated federal government. An email was sent to federal employees that offered them eight months’ severance if the email is returned containing the word ‘Resign’. I think that it is a limited time offer.
Beside Trump’s designs on owning the Panama Canal, he is, purportedly, trying to purchase Greenland and wants Canada to become a state rather than be supported by us financially. It’s hard to say if these are real intentions, attempts at keeping the press busy, or just wanting “a better deal”.
I hear that he has a written plan that will hopefully end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The cease fire in Gaza may prove hard to keep.
Musk’s heading of DOGE, with the task of saving trillions is in motion. An email was sent to federal employees offering 8 months payed severance if they would just return said email with it’s message RESIGN.
Not so promising is Trumps pledge of 500 billion to the likes of Sam Alton for AI development. SA’s OpenAI is being sued by major players including the NYT over copyright infringement. A key witness and former employee of OpenAI suspiciously committed suicide by shooting himself into the top of his head, leaving no note, right after a week of back packing with his life long friends and celebrating his 26th birthday. Nothing to see here. Just as I try and digest this I hear that China has developed a better faster cheaper AI that supposedly will be open sourced, unlike “Open” AI.
Next week is crucial. RFKJr, Tulsie Gabbard, and Cash Patel face senate confirmations. They are key to beginning the roll back decades of corruption and incompetence.
