It is July 2024 and the US political world is in a virtual uproar. Donald Trump’s guilty verdict at the beginning of last month, created a big bump in his donations. Just when Powerful democrats settled down after the debate debacle, on July 13th there was an assassination attempt with the image of DJT, defiant fist in the air and blood streaming down his face, creating a lock step swivel. They encouraged and then insisted Biden heroically step aside. With mission accomplished and Kamala Harris anointed, the blue party is hard at work selling the candidate to their constituency. Right now, there is little room in the news for generating pandemic worries.
While the news may be concentrating on politics until the November election, the struggle over digital ids, digital currency, and mandated vaccines for the upcoming pandemic is waiting in the wings. It may be center stage soon. How we resist this tyranny is on my mind.
In June my husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Karen Kain and inviting her to stay with us for a few days during her travels. Karen, is known to many, and personally knows many warrior parents and activists who fight against mandating vaccines and for the mandating of vaccine safety trials. All engaged in this battle are known as anti-vaxxers, regardless of vaccination status.
Karen chronicled her long fight on behalf of her daughter, Lorrin, on Facebook and in her book. Lorrin was injured by a vaccine that came from what is called a “hot lot”. This lot outright killed other babies. Lorrin lived until she was 15 and received a settlement from the NVICP (the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program). Karen served for three years on the ACCV board (Advisory Committe on Childhood Vaccines). I cannot even begin to know what Karen and her beautiful daughter endured during those years. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity of spending time with her. Shortly after Karen left us, we heard that her fellow warrior mom and dear friend Shiela had died. While many or rather most of us are not as brave or compassionate as those who openly resist, and most may not be leaders, the example of people like Karen and Sheila is a source of inspiration. If we all begin in small ways, we can build our strength to resist.
In August of 2023, I was returning to the US after a 6-month absence. COVID government mandated restrictions had been lifted. I determined that I would no longer wear a mask and would not do business anywhere where one was required. As I entered the office of my primary care physician, the receptionist whipped out a mask for me to wear. I turned and left. Such a small thing but I felt elated. That decision gave me the courage to take another small step.
I just learned via CHD that you do not have to have your biometrics taken when you go through the airport. Airport Face Scan I was instructed to put my passport on the scanner and stand in front of the camera. I declined and did not waiver when the angry officer insisted and bullied. Eventually he gave up and I was allowed to be identified by a human being. This is not about giving someone a hard time. I believe that we must stand up for our rights as humans or those human rights will disappear. Such tiny steps but each battle makes you stronger and prepares you for what comes. A YouTube video of how Dr. Peter Hotez wants anti-vaxxers to be dealt with was retrieved after it disappeared from YouTube.
Homeland Security against anti-vaxxers
They are getting ready for us; we have to be ready for them.
